Health and happiness for children and young people with disabilities.

Venturers’ Academy, Hareclive Road, Withywood, BS13 9JW or What Three Words – shall.enjoy.crew

The Pop Up is split into sessions based on your child’s needs, so they can experience the benefits of movement and play in an environment that’s right for them.

Gympanzees sessions are for children and young people (0-25 years) with sensory, physical, learning difficulties, SEN and any mild to profound disability. You do not need a diagnosis to attend Gympanzees.

Different sessions types

We run four session types which meet the needs of children and young people of all abilities – ensuring we are truly inclusive.

Siblings are welcome in all of our sessions. You will need to book separate spaces for each child.

Please make sure you understand our session types before booking: Butterflies, Jungle, Leopards and Gorillas.

This is for the safety of all users and if you are in a session that could cause harm to any of our users you may be asked to leave.

Session Cost

£9.50 per child/young person – including siblings, £12.50 for a longer session.

We offer a concession price of £4.75 a session or £6 for a long session, for families on low income.

Please note this is only for low income families

What to Expect

At Gympanzees we are passionate about ‘Stealthy Health’ – children and young people getting therapy benefits and exercise without knowing they are!

We will have several different rooms to explore, with something for everyone! There will be a music room, trampoline room, soft play room, indoor playground, active and calm sensory rooms, outdoor playground and gym. There will also be a sociable café to meet and chat with others after your session.

Innowalk

We are delighted to confirm the Innowalk will be back at the Pop Up this year!

These brilliant pieces of kit offer whole-body exercise with weight-bearing, allowing our young visitors to sit, stand and move more comfortably.

Innowalk sessions are free with specific time slots for visitors to book. Innowalk sessions are separate to regular Gympanzees sessions and are for specific use of the Innowalk during that time, unless you also have a Butterfly session booked and want to use the innowalk during part of that time.

There are two sizes for the innowalks, small (for users 100-145cm in height) and large (users 145-190cm), please pay close attention when booking to ensure you select the right size machine for your child.

Innowalk sessions are 1 hour long and will need to be booked in advance. Book to avoid disappointment, but also double check on the day as we may have space!

Innowalks will be at the Pop Up 1st, 6th, 9th and 12th August.

When arriving at the school, make sure your SatNav takes you to the Hareclive Road entrance. At the Cater Road roundabout you will need to stay right at the lights by Motability and then turn left into Hareclive road. Anton Banktock Way does not let you turn off. The school has grey railings with colourful plastic shapes on. If the car park to the front of the school is full, please follow the signs for Additional Parking.

We are working with local taxi companies to provide a wheelchair accessible taxi service for those who would not be able to reach us otherwise. Please see our FAQ's section for more details.

If transport or cost of sessions are stopping you or someone you know from booking a space at The Gympanzees Pop Up, thanks to the kind support of Mothers Union and Irwin Mitchell, we can cover the cost of travel to the Pop Up and can provide a fee wavier. Please contact info@gympanzees.org to let us know.

We will still be running Butterflies, Gorillas, Leopards and Jungle sessions for children. To find out which session best suites your child, watch our explainer videos here.

ButterflyGorilla,  LeopardJungle.

The sessions are 90 minutes apart from Butterfly sessions which are 2 hours (to allow for the extra time needed for hoisting and toileting).

For children and young people who find that 90 mins is just not enough, we have made a few of our Gorilla and Jungle sessions 2 hours long (long sessions).

Whilst we will be happy to lend a hand, make some adaptations to the space and show you how equipment works, we cannot get involved with the moving and handling or supervision of your group. We need to keep an eye on the whole space and so can’t spend too much time with one family. We would be grateful if you can bring enough people to make your visit work for you all, especially if you are bringing siblings.

Yes, we will have a cafe with refreshments and snacks which you are welcome to use at the end of your session.

This will be on the second floor and there will be a lift to reach this.

The address of the school is Venturers’ Academy, Hareclive Road, Withywood, BS13 9JW.

Please feel free to contact us on info@gympanzees.org / or on any of our social media platforms.

If you are planning to use this service please book as far in advance as possible.
